BUILD YOUR COMMUNITY – BUILD YOURSELF!

Community Service – it’s something we hear a lot about with all the natural disasters and terrorist attacks happening around the world. So sometimes you pull out your checkbook and answer the call for money and someone else does the job. Sometimes you get involved through your church. What about your kids? Do they know what you donate? Do they help? Do they realize . . . . .

Remember when you were in school and thinking about college – or not – and filling out those college applications – the question about “What type of community service organization do you belong to?” Do your kids belong to a service organization? Do they ask “How can we help?” Do you want to do more then write a check? Would you or your 12-18 year old be interested in coming to a Jr. Fundraising Committee Meeting/Bash?

On Sunday, December 4, 2005 from 1-4 at the LOFS Clubhouse, the Fundraising Committee is sponsoring a get together for any Middle School age to High School age kids who want to get busy building the community and building themselves. There will be some refreshments, no cost to the kids, a D.J., some ideas, some fun, some building!

Hopefully, what we will see is a strong group of kids who may or may not realize right now what they do does/can make a difference – to themselves, to others, to their community. That they are important to themselves, to others, to the community and it will help build the community and help them build themselves! If they just want to come and do it for the college application, maybe they will start doing it for others and realize sometimes the checkbook is a wonderful way to donate – but sometimes it is the personal touch that is needed. Let’s bring our kids together and help them – BUILD THEIR COMMUNITY AND BUILD THEMSELVES!!
