LOFS Fundraising Committee annual report
The Fundraising committee was formed in 2001 by 5 women who were supported by
the POA Board. In 2001, the Fundraising Committee reported a profit of $800.
We are pleased to announce that we have grown to a committee of nine. In 2008
our committee has raised more than $19,000!
We would like to share with you the projects that have been completed by the
Fundraising committee since its inception.
Our first project was the purchase of medical supplies and trolling motor for
the security boat patrol. The teen center was our second project. Our remodeling
made a huge difference in the interior appearance as well as allowing an
improved use of the space.
Next, we provided the funds to replace the timbers along the beach with
landscaping blocks. These blocks prevent erosion into the lakes.
We financed and helped plan the beautiful gazebo off the restaurant patio. Our
committee wishes to thank the House and Garden Club, whose members worked hard
on the landscaping of the area that surrounds the gazebo.
In January 2006 we were instrumental in remodeling the clubhouse lounge. Along
with supplying much of the funds needed for this project, we also provided the
physical labor needed to get the project done in such a short time. We removed
wallpaper, hung new wall covering, painted, and hung the pictures. What an
improvement!
The Fundraising Committee also contributed $5,000 to the MGA for the landscaping
and waterfall that graces the Pro Shop.
In 2007 we earmarked money and erected a new restaurant-community sign at the
117th Avenue entrance. This spring we donated funds to LOFS Softball for their
dugouts and safety fencing.
We are currently in the process of redecorating the restaurant dining room. With
the input of Chef Rob, Dwellings of Crown, and Blinds of all Kinds of Valparaiso
will provide the much needed updating of this amenity.
Looking forward, we are kicking off our fall fundraising with our first comedy
night on October 17. All funds raised at our first comedy night, as well as
additional funds already set aside, will be donated to the Garry Weiss Pavilion
to be erected at the Pro Shop.
Garry was someone who always supported our efforts. He often served as our
comedy night Master of Ceremonies. He will surely be missed by all.
The November comedy night will be on the 14. Look for us to return in January
and in the spring with our T-shirts, comedy nights, summer concert candy, and
wonderful glow merchandise!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the restaurant staff for
assisting us with comedy nights and our annual fashion show.
Thanks go out to Rick Cleveland and the office for assisting in sweatshirt sales
and helping us with committee organization. We thank Mike Gooldy for his
assistance with our articles in the “Seasonal” and Marshall Anderson for his
great LOFS web site.
In closing, thank you all for continuing to support our efforts in enhancing the
amenities at LOFS.
