LOFS Looses Long Time Resident and Leader

Garry A. Weiss, age 53, of Crown Point (L.O.F.S.), IN passed away on April 29, 2008. Garry was a practicing attorney in Merrillville, Indiana for 28 years. He was a graduate of Wirt High School, Indiana University and John Marshall Law School. Garry served as a public defender in the Gary City Court and most recently in the Lake Superior Court. He was committed to his family, friends and community. He was a Sunday school teacher at Temple Israel in Gary and served on the Temple's board. Garry was an avid golfer, bowler, pilot, bicyclist and comedian. Garry is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cindy; their daughter, Lauren; and son Max. He is also survived by his parents: Larry and Marlene Weiss of Crown Point (L.O.F.S.); sister, Tracy (Jeff) Salberg of Utah; brother, Howard of Crown Point, IN and nephews: Joshua Salberg, Kyle Salberg, Mike Weiss and Zachary Weiss. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN with Rabbi Stanley Halpern officiating. Garry was the chair of the LOFS Grievance Committee and Moderated many of the Candidates Night presentations of the POA.
