Club party a hit with kids More than 100 children
attended the Lakes of the Four Seasons Lions Club Christmas Party in the
clubhouse ballroom on Dec. 16. The 26th annual event featured a magic act, a
clown who painted colorful designs on the children's faces and hands, and, what
was the main event, an audience with Santa Claus. Each child or family group
received a framed picture with Santa, Beanie Baby and a bag with a coloring book
and candy. Cookies and punch also were provided. The picture frames were
donated by the Winfield/LOFS Chamber of Commerce and John Curley, Winfield
Township Trustee, donated the frames' printing. Bob Moreth, State Farm
Insurance, donated the instant film and personally snapped all of the pictures.
About 200 Beanie Babies were donated by Laura Campbell of Campbell's
Collectibles. Many families attending
brought non-perishable food items to the party. Because the Lions Club's holiday
food baskets were delivered the day before, club officials said all of the food
collected at the party would be donated to the township food pantry at the
Winfield Government Center. Six-year-old Makenzie
Miller and her brother David, 1, had an opportunity to give their Christmas list
to Santa. David seemed to be more interested in Santa's white gloves.
Paul Hohos, 4, at left,
shared his Santa visit with cousins Cody, 6, middle, and Riley Kline, 3, of
Warsaw. Children and their parents
line up for a visit and picture with Santa. Bob Moreth donated the film and his
time to snap pictures of the more than 100 children at the 26th LOFS Lions Club
Christmas Party. This little girl on Santa's lap clutches her Beanie Baby and
